The Meeting was held Tuesday February 15, 2022 7:00 PM - Zoom Meeting
Thank you to everyone who participated in the public meeting on Feb. 15 for the Whispering Valley and West Cow Path Flood Risk Reduction Projects. A The City Staff presentation and Fact Sheet can be viewed below.
City staff received a number of detailed questions and comments after the meeting. If you sent an email, you should have received an acknowledgement that it was received. They are still working on answering the questions.
City staff is putting a document together to recap some of the main questions and concerns that were raised at the meeting.
About the Project
This project will reduce flood risk in your neighborhood. This project has two distinct, but interdependent parts.
One part supports Union Pacific’s upgrade of the railroad crossing near Whispering Valley by adding a flood bench on the Champions Forest tract.
The second part will improve drainage in the area near West Cow Path by installing curbs, gutters and a drainage system of underground pipes.
This project has been in the works for a few years and is currently in the design stage. We will construct the channel storage on the Champions Forest Tract first. We are anticipating starting construction on that part in the summer of 2023.
