Yett Creek Park
Over the years, the City has proposed several changes to the park along our northern border, including developing little league softball fields, including it on a bike path map and most recently making it into an off-leash dog park. The Angus Valley Neighborhood Association does its best to remain informed of the City’s plans, to communicate that information to the residents and to represent the interests of our community.
Off-Leash Dog Park
In March of 2011, it came to the Board’s attention that the City was considering Yett Creek Park as a new off leash area. Here is a brief review of the progress of this proposal:
April 13: Two COA employees as well as the chairman of the Off Leash Area Advisory Committee (OLAAC), a volunteer board, met with the Board and several neighbors during the regular April Board meeting (minutes can be found here).
June 13: The COA held a public meeting, the first of three, (announcement here) to gather citizen input on the proposal. There were over 100 in attendance, the vast majority from Angus Valley. The meeting consisted of a short introduction to the proposal followed by breaking up into groups to perform a SWOT analysis for the park. They published a summary of the meeting shortly after.
August 31: The COA held the second public (announcement here). About 50 attended. There was a short presentation by the City followed by the citizens examining the three proposed designs for the off leash area. Note cards were left on the table for anyone to write a comment about the designs. The City posted a summary of the meeting including four proposals for the park.
